The Christopher Cutts Gallery is excited to release "Ray Mead, Life is Change," a book celebrating the life and work of one of Canada's most important abstract painters.
Based on interviews with the artist's daughters, this book paints an intimate portrait of the artist, as seen through their eyes, illustrated with artworks from across his five–decade artistic career. Moving chronologically, it traces the evolution of his practice, which was shaped, and sometimes disrupted, by the vicissitudes of life. This book also features an essay by Christopher Cutts.
As Mead's daughter recalls, he often returned to a single phrase, one that he had painted in bold block letters across his studio, and which threads through the pages of this book, "Life is Change."
This book includes 188 pages, photos of 74 of his paintings, and detail shots of some of his works.
